An Evening With Kizey benefitting the CNY SPCA
This annual fundraiser benefits the Central New York SPCA, home to many dogs and cats (and other wonderful pets) who are temporarily homeless or missing from their owners. This year's recipient of the Kizey Award will be news reporter and SPCA advocate, Laura Hand. This award was established to honor those who have gone above and beyond to assist animals in our community. Ms. Hand has throughout her lifetime shown her love, dedication and support for animals. For more than twenty years she has played a major role in helping the unwanted, homeless and abused animals in our shelter find new, loving homes. Each week, Laura promotes one of the shelter’s special residents by featuring it on her Live at Noon television broadcasts. This opportunity has led to the adoption of hundreds of animals over the years. It is one of the longest running adoption outreach programs for the shelter and one of our most successful. Often within minutes of the animal’s appearance with Laura on the news program, the phones at the shelter begin ringing off the hook. Not only do the animals shown on the news get adopted, but others who watch this extremely popular broadcast are often spurred into visiting the CNYSPCA and adopting a different animal. “We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves”
